Southern Proper

I think I liked this site the most. You can really feel the owners' care and passion come through. And the patterns are super Southern and have a playful yet refined air.

My pick: Jolly Roger Beau. $55 (Shotgun Proper Pocket Square $35 is my secret fav)

Starboard Clothing Co.

Cool little site with a boutique selection. And located in Annapolis, MD so I have to link it. Go Navy.

My pick: Harvard Classic Tweed Beau. $35

High Cotton Ties

LOVE THESE! Quintessentially Southern and my next purchase without a doubt. Low-key website, small family owned and terrific selection. I have been thumbing around their site off and on for an hour now. Just love the photo shoots.

My pick: navy and orange gingham reversible. $45

Beau Ties LTD

It is hard to talk about bow tie makers without using Beau Ties as the yard stick. They make such a massive selection with pretty much anything you want. Their site is awesome and they have lots of specials. If you need a particular tie I would look there first.

My pick: blue tie with pink ribbons. I find it a far subtler and savvier way to promote awareness. $49

Vineyard Vines

Any fan of repeat dandy patterns and pastel colors will do well to look into Vineyard Vines. They make ties for nearly every major school. I own one for my high school and I love it. They are rather thin giving a more nonchalant look.

My pick: any of the school patterns. $45

Robert Talbott Carmel

A new men's store opened downtown and they carried a couple Robert Talbott Carmel bow ties. The patterns were clean with very vibrant colors. I was very impressed with the quality of construction. With perfect clarity and a real heft I can only imagine how smart they would look.

My pick: white and red striped. $45

Octavio Miles Boutique

Quick link for this site. They have an obviously boutique collection but for $35 you can't beat them. I liked the selection so give it a gander.

My pick: their two layered paisley bow ties are fantastic. Unique approach to the popular pattern.

Ben Silver

So I am watching Greek and flipping around the web and I stumbled on this site. Overall a very nice site, easily navigated and full to the brim with great clothes. I was tremendously excited to find my high school in their school blazer buttons.

Their bow tie selection is vast, comprehensive and rather elegant. There is something for everyone and I liked the regimental and university patterns. Every tie is nice and their company's Scottish tie heritage is pervasive in their selection.

My pick: Churchill dot in navy. I need it for dignity and for honor. What better to wear while smoking a cigar? $82

The Cordial Churchman

Found this site today while I was at work and I love it. Just looking at the bow ties and the pictures it just oozes Carolina. Seersucker, gingham and madras patterns and made of linen, wool, cashmere and chambray. Simple and cool, utterly perfect for summer.

They are all handmade and the owner will convert ties and make custom orders. I can definitely see myself buying one of these in the next month. They come in at three price points: $26, $35 and $44. Awesome deals and elegantly Southern inspired bow ties.

My pick: four-tone seersucker. Honestly I just can't help myself. $26

Reeves Bow Ties

I like this site. They have a nice two-sided style with a dominant and background pattern. As opposed to the prevalent two-sided bow ties meant to display both; the background pattern is meant to peek out subtly instead of screaming for attention.

They have many different bow tie shapes and a conservative selection of patterns. Definitely worth a look.

My pick: Respectable style with a gentleman's cut. $40
